Happy Clients

Telly is very approachable and struck up an immediate rapport with my daughter (3 years). She always conducted a fun, productive, hour-long session all the while managing to keep my daughter engaged and enjoying herself. I can honestly attest that my daughter was excited every week when Telly arrived and loved her sessions with her. She [Telly] has a lovely nature and children love to spend time with her and learn from her. My daughter’s speech and confidence improved a great deal in the period she was having speech therapy with Telly.

In no time at all, Telly can build up an easy rapport - she’s both professional and has an easy ease with children. [My daughter] enjoys the sessions and it’s very useful for us as parents to understand how the skills are developed and the aim behind the activities so that we can try and build it into our daily lives. Our daughter has made fantastic progress in her ability to make herself understood by others and play with her peers. I think she’s also more confident about the concept of learning (previously she has been all too aware of her difficulties with speech and that’s made her anxious in new environments like birthday parties or meeting new people).

It’s been really reassuring to have a professional get to know our daughter and understand where her strengths and areas of weakness lie. The nature of SLI means that what might be useful for one child might be irrelevant for another, so individual sessions designed specifically for your child’s needs are essential in making progress. She’s made a tremendous difference to our daughter’s language abilities in just over 6 months of weekly appointments. Part of that undoubtedly has been her ability to relate to Livia who is always happy to see her. Every week is a different session which keeps things lively. And Telly is always helpful between sessions if we have any questions or concerns. She’s always good at translating the complicated idiom of the SLT profession into layman’s language and has a very positive approach which has been very reassuring.

Telly worked with our daughter who has severe 0ro-motor dyspraxia, focusing on speech production. The sessions started off as weekly face-to-face during which time we saw a pronounced impact on our daughters ability to form both sounds and words. Our daughter also has learning disabilities but Telly was able to adapt her techniques and strategies to ensure that our daughter maintained concentration and fully participated. When Telly moved to New York we continued our sessions using video calling, and it was the relationship they had built up and the different ways in which Telly ran the sessions that were a great success. Telly was happy to work alongside the Nuffield Speech & Hearing Centre to ensure there was a multi-disciplinary approach and consistency with the help my daughter was receiving.

Telly had so many great techniques to engage with my son - it is not easy to keep a bouncy 6-year old boy engaged for half an hour but Telly was patient, understanding and focussed. I really appreciated the simple exercises and advice she had for me, as a parent, to support my child. I would definitely recommend Telly to a friend.
